The Urban Church

5 Years of ministry

I still remember some years ago when I was in college and took a church planting class and learning that the most critical time of a new church is within its five years of existences. Somehow after 5 years of life new churches have a promising future. Well October 2, 2011 The Urban Church celebrated 5 years of ministry. Looking back to all the memories of The Urban Church, I’m amazed of God’s continues faithfulness over this ministry and know that the best is yet to come. We want to extend our gratitude’s to New Hope for believing in what we do. We thank you for your prayers, your support and we are grateful to call you our parent church. Blessings to New Hope and its leaders for what you do in his service.

The Urban Church

On behalf of my family and The Urban Church team, we want to thank you for your faithful support to our mission. The many lives that have been touched and changed have been because of your contribution to us. I think of Ivy who now lives in Minnesota, clean and sober for two years now. She has found a church, is working and growing in her faith. This is just one story of a life transformation because of The Urban Church’s presence in East Oakland. After much prayer and counsel from friends and mentors, it’s been confirmed that it’s time to move on from my role at the The Urban Church as Lead Pastor. I took a part-time position last year at an established church to work my way up to the lead position. The time has come and I can no longer keep doing both. As a result, our Classis feels that the best thing to do is to close

down The Urban Church as a church plant. About 20 members from Oakland have decided to join me on this new journey at Waypointe Christian Fellowship in Richmond, Ca. Our previous worship leader is actually helping lead worship at the new church as well. I will still remain part of our Classis as a Commissioned Pastor so I will still be well connected to the RCA. I’m looking forward to joining you for worship on May 18th, 2014 and sharing in more detail what God is doing in our midst. Thanks again and we will see you soon.
